one internal representation will lead to another

Have been looking at swish patterns recently and trying to understand what that means - this is where I have got to:
A swish pattern is a process that we can use that causes one internal representation to lead to another and for that change to happen almost immediately.
I haven't found a label for one internal rep being replaced by another. Swish Pattern just refers to the change process that we can use to make this happen. I am sure there are many other processes.

It is possible that one internal rep will lead to another. Using the swish pattern will influence which internal rep it leads to. If you have an internal rep that isn't helpful then you could change this for one that is helpful. For example if when you get your internal rep of wanting a treat your next internal rep is of a big bar of chocolate, you may decide that you would like to change that internal rep for an apple. A swish pattern could help you do that, if you wanted to do it.
The chains of internal reps could get pretty long if it was helpful.
I wonder if a swish pattern could be used to get an internal rep to lead to an action rather than an internal rep?
