This is my reminder that when someone gives me advice as to what I have to do to achieve something, that what works for them may not work for me and therefore it could be worth checking out that the advice is good for me or at least being aware that it may not be.
n=1 is taken from the world of scientific experiments. When carrying out an experiment n refers to the number of samples that are being experimented upon. For example if you are seeing what impact a new fertiliser has on tomato plants and you are trying it on 50 plants then n=50.
Then when you look at the results you can generalise and say that if 40 plants grew better and 10 didn't then in general terms this is a good fertiliser.
All well and good if you are looking at populations but if you are considering just yourself then you are interested in what it will do in general terms, you are interested in what it will do for just you. So with that in mind, give it your all, act like it will work, try it, but be aware that whilst it may work for everyone else, it may not be right for you.
