if I exercise I will lose weight, right or wrong?

There is probably some truth in the this but I don't think that it is the whole story. I am certain that exercise burns calories and if that was all that it did that may confirm the above, however I find that when I exercise my appetite increases and I eat more than normal. To check it out a bit further I started running for 30 minutes each day and eating what felt right. Each day I checked my weight and over a period of 2 weeks it roseby about 4 pounds.

So as far as I can see the above statement needs to be modified to:

"If I exercise more and don't eat more then I will lose weight."

If you eat the same number of calories each day and are active to the same level then your weight will stablise. Exercise will burn calories and you could work out how many calories the exercise that you do uses. Food has calories in it and you can work out how many calories there are in any food you eat. If when you exercise you eat less calories than you burn you will lose weight (and vice versa ie if you eat more calories than you burn you will gain weight.)
